Lane Byrd

Meet Mrs. Byrd

I was born and raised in Elizabeth City, NC. I graduated from East Carolina University in 2004 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology. For six years, I worked as a mental health case manager before pursuing nursing at Beaufort County Community College, where I graduated as a Registered Nurse in 2012.

As a nurse, I gained valuable experience in cardiac surgery, pulmonary medicine, and sleep medicine. While I loved the clinical side of nursing, what I enjoyed most was interacting with and teaching my patients. In 2017, I transitioned into teaching Health Science at Southside High School, where I continue to share my passion for healthcare with students.

My goal as an educator is to spark students’ interest in the medical field and prepare them for success in healthcare careers. I use Google Classroom as the main platform for class resources, outlines, study materials, and PowerPoints, helping students stay organized and supported in their learning.
