Meet Mr. Whitney

I am proud to be a member of the very first class to complete all four years at Southside High School, where I was also part of the state championship runner-up team. After graduation, I continued my education at North Carolina Wesleyan College, earning my B.S. in Computer Information Systems while playing four years of collegiate athletics.

Although my career began on a different path, I soon discovered my true calling in education. I started as a mentor and later served as a teacher assistant from 2011 to 2017. In 2017, I joined the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department, where I currently teach Drones Fundamentals and Career Management. Over the years, I have also taught Word/PowerPoint, Drone II, Excel, and Entrepreneurship. In recognition of my dedication, I was honored as Beaufort County CTE Teacher of the Year (2022–2023).

Beyond the classroom, I have coached football, basketball, girls’ flag football, and track at Southside since 2011. My passion for education and athletics is matched only by my love for my family—I am married and the proud father of five wonderful children.
